Tama is pronounced TAY-muh.
Traer is pronounced TRARE.
Here, Ohio is pronounced oh-hi-OH.
Tama was a Meskwaki leader.
And Toledo was in Ohio.
Here near the middle of Iowa,
They are two miles apart, or so.
Tama is just slightly bigger,
But you won't find the county seat there.
Toledo was home to the Butter Cow Lady
And, of course, has its own courthouse square.
The Meskwaki are unique in Iowa.
The state's only recognized tribe.
Their settlement's outside of Tama,
With a Bingo Casino beside.
In Gladbrook, there's marvels of matchsticks.
Notre Dame and a dragon and more.
In Traer, there's a winding old stairway
That you surely have not seen before.
