In Lake City, Central School (1897) and the 1893 standpipe (water tower) are on the National Register of Historic Places. Dobson Pipe Organ Builders is also in Lake City. The Southern Cal (for Calhoun) School District merged with Rockwell City schools in 2014, forming the South Central Calhoun Community School District.
First called Fox, then Calhoun.
