Lyon County

Named for General Nathaniel Lyon.

Changed its name just to honor the man.

Died in a battle in Eighteen sixty-one,

Soon after the conflict began.

Lyon County is found in the state's northwest corner,

Just a few miles away from Sioux Falls.

You'll find a casino right up on the border.

Remember to bring your golf balls.

In Rock Rapids, you'll find, there's a park on an isle.

And the courthouse is south of downtown.

And young Jerry Mathers, the Beaver, lived here,

Long before he became so renowned.

The Little Rock River flows into the Rock,

And the Rock, it has rapids, you know.

Then to the Big Sioux, and to the Missouri,

And to the Big River it flows.
