Chickasaw County

The Little Brown Church was built in 1864. William S. Pitts wrote the song about it, called "The Church in the Wildwood," in 1857. Try to explain that.

The county of Chickasaw's in the northeast,

But not far enough to be hilly.

And just like the entire rest of the state,

The winters can get kind of chilly.

The county seat city's New Hampton, you know,

And the largest, as you may have guessed.

Whatever you do, don't confuse it with Hampton,

Just seventy miles to the southwest.

The Little Brown Church in the Vale is nearby,

Just outside the village of Bradford.

It's been famous forever because of a song,

So come to the church in the Wildwood!

Remember the Nineties? Search engines were new,

And a big one was called Alta Vista.

There's a town of that name here, it's not very large,

And it's just four miles southeast of Elma.
