Osceola, Iowa's smallest county in total area, was the last county to be formed, in 1871. Hawkeye Point, elevation 1,670 feet, is Iowa's highest point. Nearby Ocheyedan Mound, 1,655 feet and more of an obvious hill, was considered to be the highest point for many years.

Ocheyedan is pronounced oh-CHEE-din.

Osceola is pronounced oh-see-OH-luh.
