Osceola was a leader of the Seminole people during the Second Seminole War in Florida, in the 1830s. He was not the Billy Powell who was guitarist for the band Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Osceola is pronounced oh-see-OH-luh.
The county seat here's Osceola,
Named for the Seminole man.
Billy Powell was his birth name, his mother did say,
And in Florida he made his stand.
There's gambling at Lakeside Casino,
On the shores of the lovely West Lake.
The truly remarkable thing about West Lake?
It's only three miles west of East Lake.
If you want to take Amtrak cross-country,
From Chicago out to the West Coast,
There's a station right here in Clarke County.
